MapInfo Professional's Link Utility for Google Earth ™

The MapInfo Professional (TM) Link Utility for Google Earth (TM) enables MapInfo Professional v8.0 customers to share analysis maps with others via Google Earth. This export method will serve as one more output option you can use to attractively share the value of location based analysis maps with the rest of your organization.

The release of this utility underscores MapInfo's continued commitment to interoperability with industry accepted technologies including Oracle, IBM and Microsoft technologies.

Installation Requirements

  • Install MapInfo Professional v8.0, if not already.
  • Google Earth 3.0.0548 or later. See the following web site for more information and installation instructions for the Google Earth application: http://earth.google.com/downloads.html

Download and Installation Instructions

  1. Create a temporary directory on your hard drive, such as C:\TEMP\GELinkTool
  2. Click on the GELinkTool.exe download link that will cause the File Download dialog box to appear.
  3. Choose the "Save" button and navigate to the directory created in Step 1 (i.e. c:\temp\GELinkTool).
  4. Once the download completes, use Windows Explorer to navigate to the directory created in Step 1 (i.e. c:\temp\GELinkTool)
  5. Double-click on the file named GELinkTool.exe
  6. This will allow you to extract the setup files to your temporary directory.
  7. Double-click on the file named Setup.exe. This program will start the Installshield Wizard that will lead you through the rest of the tool's installation process.
